5. Saturday 29 February 2020 Littleborough
Simon wanted to see more of Littleborough after last week so we went back.
As we were driving through Bury, Simon realised he'd forgotten his phone so we had to go back for it. By the time, we got to Littleborough it was nearly lunchtime. I walked Simon round a few options and he chose Bobby's ( formerly Upstairs Downstairs ). We had a long wait as the cafe was full but the food was good when it arrived.
Once we'd eaten, we headed for the History Centre in the station buildings, a development I only learned about a year or so ago. It's run by the local Historical Society. When we went in, the first bloke we met recognised me but I didn't recall him. However, I did know his companion David Grayson who was Chairman when I first joined the Society 43 years ago. He still is but hasn't been continuously in the post. I introduced him to Simon and we chatted about who was still alive from the old days. Simon asked me if Dave had been in the LTS so I had to explain what he meant.
We then had a brief visit to the Coach House centre where I bought Simon some jelly beans from the charity shop.
We moved on to Harehill Park where Simon climbed to the top of the old water wheel and I showed him the grave of Mephisto ( either a monkey or a dog in the possession of the former owners ). We then moved to the kids playpark which he was a little too old for actually. He befriended a young lad called Ellis and played with him while I got cold . When their relationship degenerated into name calling, I moved him on to Rebecca's where we had some cake ( not very good to be honest ) and a drink.
It was then time to return to Bolton and do some shopping.
