9 Saturday 28 March 2020 Bolton, Rawtenstall and Ramsbottom
There are no pictures from this one as we grappled with how to keep the trips going during lockdown. I decided we could get away with a short walk around Ramsbottom and then do the weekly shop at Ada's Rawtenstall without anyone getting too upset.
Unfortunately, I left my debit card in the machine the night before so I decided we'd better go into Bolton to sort that out first. The town centre was eerily quiet, just a few people waiting outside Boots. We headed for the bank to find it was now closed on Saturdays. I managed to get through to them on the phone to report the lost card.
We moved on to the Post Office which was still open. I used a credit card in the cash machine. An undesirable in a wheelchair approached me for cash. I declined and he started clearing his throat. We headed back to the car park where there were more scrotes hanging round. It didn't feel safe and I was glad to get out of there.
We decided to forego the walk and headed for Asda, We got in after sanitising and had a normal shop finding most of what was needed and Simon bought a Queen CD.
We then decided to look for lunch. We tried Domino's first but that was only doing deliveries. We moved on to Greggs but that was now shut. We parked up in Ramsbottom but didn't spot anywhere. We had a look in Tesco Express for some hot food but didn't find any though a store clerk tipped us off that Entwistle's, a delicatessen on the high street might be doing sandwiches.
He turned out to be right. Simon had a toasted cheese sandwich and I had a steak and onion sandwich. There was then nothing to do but head for home. It wasn't much of a trip but at least we got out.
