55 Thursday 18th February 2021 Adlington to Chorley
With news about the coronavirus now shifting towards some relaxation of the outdoor exercise restrictions we felt emboldened to go a little further afield and went to Adlington to continue our canal walk.
We parked near the Jubilee playground in Adlington where Simon had a little play while I went off to a cafe to get some takeout breakfast. The weather forecast over-delivered in that it not only stopped raining but it was bright and mild.
We started off walking through White Bear Marina.
The scenery became very pleasant
We noticed some fungus growth on the trees
Simon was impressed by the architecture of the bridge carrying the A6
I knew we'd be passing Frederick's ice cream parlour at Heath Charnock but I didn't tell Simon so it would be a surprise to him. It was mild enough for ice cream.
Just after that we crossed the aqueduct over the river Yarrow
We decided to finish the walk just short of Botany Bay on the 24 bus route but we just missed one.
Therefore we had to walk into the centre of Chorley. The silver lining was that we walked past a chippy so we bought some late lunch there. We then walked to the station. We had about 25 minutes to wait for the train to Adlington. The waiting room stank of weed and for the last 20 minutes we were sharing the platform with a couple of scrotes which didn't feel safe but it seemed like they were waiting for someone getting off our train and didn't board it.
There was no one else in our carriage but someone else did get off at Adlington. We then drove home.
