72 Saturday 12th June 2021 Sea Life, Manchester

 Simon  wanted  to  do  a  sightseeing  trip  and  chose  Sea  Life, Manchester  which  is  in  The  Trafford  Centre. 

I  didn't  realise  there  was  an  Express  service  and  assumed  we'd  be  taking  the  stopping  bus  which  takes  over  an  hour. We  bought  some  breakfast  at  Gregg's  before  boarding. There  was  only  one  other  passenger. The  seats  were  very  hard.


We  arrived  at  The  Trafford  Centre  with   over  two  hours  to  kill.


We  toured  the  main  buildings.




We  went  in  Music  Store  and  Waterstones  but  Simon  couldn't  find  anything  he  wanted. We  had  a  wander  outside  passing  The  Upside  Down  House.


We  did  the  little  stroll  through Wilderspool  Woods  where  we  saw  a  squirrel.


At  last  it  was  time  to  go  to  Sea  Life. Simon  wanted  to  go  round  it  a  little  faster  than  I  would  have  on  my  own.












We  went  for  lunch  at  Wetherspoon's  where  Simon  was  a  bit  disappointed  to  find  they'd  taken  steak  off  the  menu  but  we  had  a  good  meal  nonetheless.

Simon  had  a  ride  on  the  carousel  before  we  headed  home.

 Simon  wanted  to  bring  Josh  along  for  his  trip. The  weather looked  a  bit  iffy  so  I  suggested  we  visit  the  Urbis  National Football Museum  in  Manchester.  Julie  came  with  us  on  this  one, a  visit  to  our  friends  in  Selside  using  the  new  Dalesrail  service  providing  direct  trains  between Bromley Cross and  Horton-in-Ribblesdale  on  a  Saturday. I  noted  the  crackle  of  branches  as  the  train  went  through  the  little-used  section  between Clitheroe  and  Hellifield. We  noted  the  Fat  Controller at  Settle  station. 224 Saturday 29th June 2024 Huddersfield Narrow Canal ; Marsden to Huddersfield

 This  was  my  choice, the  conclusion  to  our  walk  along  the  towpath  of  the  Huddersfield  Narrow  Canal. Though  it  was  raining hard, it  was  forecast  to  clear  up later  in  the  day ( which  it  did ). We  drove  to  Todmorden  for  a  train  to  Mirfield  which  was  delayed.  At  Mirfield  we  found  that  our  next  train  had  been  cancelled so  we  were  stuck  in  the  town for an  hour.
