I had originally planned to do a walk in Calderdale but the weather looked too dodgy. This also dissuaded my friend Philip from joining us. However Simon's friend Theo , who was staying with us over the weekend was up for a walk. We fell back on the old standby of continuing along the canal.
We drove to Rishton where I dropped off the lads at a bus stop while I parked up at the station. We then caught the bus back to Clayton-le- Moors. We bought some drinks and snacks at the newsagents there before rejoining the canal. There was a massive algae bloom that wasn't there last time.
It was raining steadily and I stopped at each bridge to check the boys were OK but they didn't seem bothered by it and didn't even bother to zip up their rainwear.
The canal remained green as we left Clayton-le Moors
The rain continued as we came into the open countryside around Altham.
We came to an abandoned building where the lads recreated the "Staying Alive" video
Shortly after that, the rain started slackening off.
The lads were relieved.
At a boating yard near Huncoat we were surprised to see a lifeboat !
There was a good view towards Padiham.
