Clarke Chronicler's Resurrection

 This  trip  was  moved  to  Sunday  to avoid  the  football , Rochdale  defeating Newport 3-0 in  what's  been  the  best  performance  of  the  season  at  the  time  of  writing.  We  were  a  bit  short  on  ideas  and  eventually  decided  on  a  visit  to  Whalley  to  check  out  two  Chritmas  fairs.  This  was  the  trip  that  nearly  didn't  happen. We  were  booked  in  for  two  nights  at  YHA  Chester  Trafford  from  Friday  10th   but  I  had  a  bad  night  on the  Thursday  and  was  off  sick  on  the  Friday. By  the  evening I  still  wasn't  feeling  well enough to  drive  so  I  rang  the  hosteland  said  something  had  come  up  and  we'd  check  in  early  on  Saturday  morning.  Simon  wanted  to  do  something  active   so  the  original  plan  was  pitch  and  putt  at  Haigh  Park, The  dismal  weather  put  that  out  of  bounds  so  we  switched  to  Adventure  Golf  in  Manchester  instead. It  was  extremely  wet  in   Manchester.  Fortunately, the  adventure  golf  was  nearby  in  the  Print  Works. I  narrowly  won. Here  are  some  pictures from  the  game.  With  the  weather  pretty  poor, I  chose a  visit  to  Bury  Museum. I  had  last  visited it  in 1977. Before  the  Museum , we  visited  Wax  and  Beans  record  shop  where  Simon  bought  Pink  Floyd's  Meddle  on  vinyl. We  then  went  to  the  museum  and  art  gallery. This  was  our  favourite  of  the  pictures. Simon  liked  the  giant  mirror. Some  modern  art. Our  favourite  part  was  a  room  with  camera- bearing  robots.   Simon  chose  another  walk  in  Calderdale  so  I  selected  one  at  the  top  end  of   Hardcastle  Crags  to  take  in  the  tea  room  at  Gibson Mill. We  parked  at  the  Scouts  hut  at  Blake  Dean  which  was  a  bit  naughty  but  it  was  pretty obvious  it  wasn'r  being  used  that  weekend  and  it  provided  them  with  a  bit  of  security  to  have  a  car  parked  outside.  The  weather  was  gloomy  but  it  wasn't  raining  when  we  set  off.
