96 Saturday 4 December 2021 Adventure Golf, Manchester

 Simon  wanted  to  do  something  active   so  the  original  plan  was  pitch  and  putt  at  Haigh  Park, The  dismal  weather  put  that  out  of  bounds  so  we  switched  to  Adventure  Golf  in  Manchester  instead.

It  was  extremely  wet  in   Manchester.


 Fortunately, the  adventure  golf  was  nearby  in  the  Print  Works. I  narrowly  won. Here  are  some  pictures from  the  game.

We  went  out  into  the  Print  Works  where  there  was a  giant lit  up bauble  you  could  step  into



Simon  wanted me  to  try  and  reach  the  lights  above.


We  went  to  Peachy  Keens  for  lunch  only  to  find  it  was no  more. We  Googled  for  another  all  you  can  eat  buffet  and  found Topps  on  Portland  St. As it  was  still  chucking  it  down, we  caught  the  tram to  St Peter's  Square  from  Shudehill.


Simon  spotted  this  discarded  flower.



Unfortunately  we  went  in  the  wrong  direction  once  we  got  off  the  tram  and  got  thoroughly  soaked  before  we  found  the  restaurant. We  had  a  good  lunch  though. We  then  caught  the  train  to  Bolton  from  Oxford  Rd. We  had  50  minutes  to  wait  for  the  train  to  Bromley  Cross  so  we  went  over  to  Bolto n  Museum. Our  visit  there  was  curtailed  by  a  fire  alarm. We  then  headed  home.

 Having  got  the  bit  between  his  teeth, Simon  wanted to finish  the  towpath  with  the  final  section  into  Sowerby  Bridge.. 242 Sunday 10th November 2024 National Football Museum

 Simon  wanted  to  bring  Josh  along  for  his  trip. The  weather looked  a  bit  iffy  so  I  suggested  we  visit  the  Urbis  National Football Museum  in  Manchester. We  took  a  rail replacement  bus  into  Bolton and  picked  up  a  train  to  Manchester  there. We went  to Subway for  some  lunch  first We then  went  to  the  museum. 244 Sunday November 24th 2024 Stockport Record Fair

 There wasn't much doubt Simon would choose this option when I put it on the "menu" . We caught the train  to  Stockport , making the last  leg of the  journey on a Pendolino train. We  had  lunch at a Wetherspoon's before making our way  to the  record  fair  in  the  Guildhall. It  looked like a  failed mission but Simon found  something at the last minute. We  called in at  the  War  Memorial Art Gallery  which  was  on  the  way  back to  the  station. The  exhibit was  a  sries  of  townscapes  such  as  this  one  of  the  viaduct.
