119 Saturday 21 May 2022 Blackburn Museum
This was Simon's choice of trip, a musum that we hadn't visited yet.
Before we set off , I made an important purchase, a Family and Friends railcard that made some destinations further afield affordable.
We took the train to Blackburn. We had some time to kill before the museum opened so we went to the Cathedral.
We looked round the interior before heading to the tea room.
We  then  went  to  where  I  remembered  a  record  shop  but  it  was  now  a  vaping  store. We  then  had  a  look  for  Reedy's  music  store. In  the  course  of   searching  for  this, we  had  an  unexpected  encounter  with  the  in-laws  who  still  live  in  the  town. Eventually  we  learned  the  shop  had  moved  to  an  out  of  town  location. We  still  had  a  bit  of  time  to  kill  so  we  mooched  around  the  library.until  the  museum  opened.
The  ground  floor  was  a  bit  of  a  mish-mash  of  mainly  Victorian  artefacts.
These  machines  reflected  Blackburn's  industrial  past.
I liked  the  collection  of  Eastern  Christian  icons.
Simon  had  a  go  at  drawing  in  the  Art  Gallery.
Like  most  long-established  civic  museums, it  has  an  Egyptology  section  and  its  own  mummy.
After  that  we  went  to  Waterstones  for  lunch. As  we  had  a  bit  of  a  wait  for  the  next  train  we  did  some  shopping  at  Asda.
When  we  got  home, I  realised  I'd  left  my  coat  in  the  waiting  room  at  Blackburn  Station  so  I  had  to  go  back  up  the line  to  retrieve  it. Good  job  the  trip  was  near  home !
