132 Sunday 21st August 2022 Marsden
I think I managed to persuade Simon that it should be my choice again as the previous week was constrained by his illness. I decided on a walk around Marsden, a shortened version of a favourite walk from the classic LTS era.
We caught the train to Manchester Victoria then walked across to Piccadilly for the train to Marsden. We had a bit of a wait so Simon had a spell on the piano in the concourse.
We got to Marden and walked into the town centre where we stocked up on provisions for the walk at the local Co Op.
Simon tucked into his Cinnamon Swirl before we set off.
The walk started with a steep climb which had the compensation of great views.
We were walking along the lower flanks of the impressive Pule Hill.
Shortly after that we crossed a road and the northern boundary of the Peak District National Park.
We soon passed by Redbrook Reservoir.
We had lunch by Brun Clough Reservoir where we were hoping there'd be an ice cream van but unfortunately the car park was covered by building plant.
Soon after setting off , we came to the trig point on Millstone Edge.
