157 Friday 20 - Sunday 22 January 2023 Burton in Kendal weekend
This got off to a subdued start as we had to visit Julie's Mum in hospital before we set off . Ths rather cast a shadow over the weekend. We stayed in the Travelodge at Burton-in- Kendal again though in the same room as previously. We had tea at Buger King.
We had breakfast at Gregg's then drove to Morecambe It was a bright morning though there was still a lot of ice around. We parked near Happy Mount Park. The views across Morecambe Bay were great.
We then filmed a video about Morecambe Bay potted shrimps which you can see here.
After that, we drove to Levens Hall. As the hall wasn't open, we weren't able to film the medieval part so we decided to come back later in the year. We did go in the tea room for something to eat. Simon had a pizza to compensate for not liking the shrimps.
We just chilled out watching TV in the evening.
On Sunday morning, we went to Mass in Milnthorpe. We had a chat with a retired priest over coffee. After that, we drove to Arnside to continue the next part of the Westmorland Heritage Walk. With the ice, just getting out of the car park was a bit hairy and Simon was a bit apprehensive about the walk.
The wintry views were lovely.
This is looking on towards Hazelslack.
We started heading up to the limestone crags of Whin Scar.
foreshore.
We then returned home , picking Julie up from the hospital on the way back.
