173 Sunday 14th May 2023 Brockholes Nature Reserve

 This  was  Simon's  choice  of  trip, a  visit  to  the  Brockholes  Nature  Reserve  near  Preston.

We  drove  there  which  didn't  take  very  long  and  parked  up.

We  crossed  over  to  the  floating  village.

As  it  was  mid-day  we  had  something  to  eat  in  the  restaurant  first. Simon distinguished  himself  by  picking  up  a  sausage  fritter  when  it  wasn't  self-service.

A  lithe  young  lady  outside  was  supervising  people  taking  cold  water  therapy.

We  decided  to  walk  the  longest  trail  through  the  Reserve.  There  was  a nice  view  over  the  Ribble  at  one  point.

 Futher  round  we  came  to  the  adventure  playground  where  Simon  set  off  on  the  trim  trail.

We  both  had  a go  on  the  zip  wire.

There  was  a  wooded  section  where  I  hoped  we  might  see  some  roe  deer  but  no  such  luck.

 

Further  on  we  came  to  the  south  end  of  the  lake.

We  popped  into  the  bird  hide  but  didn't  see  anything  very  interesting.

There  was  a  little  climb  before  we  got  back  to  the  village.

We  then  droppped  down  to  the  start.

 We  walked  along  the  causeway  back  to  the  village. It  was  a  nice  walk  but  I  was  disappointed  not  to  see  any  animals.

WE  had  an  ice  cream  before  returning  home.
