180 Friday 30 June -Sunday 2nd July 2023 Barrow weekend
Seasonal pricing meant another visit to Barrow was the most affordable option for our next weekend away. We stayed at The Lodge Guest House again.
We had breakfast at Wetherspoon's then drove over to Walney Island for a walk on the northern end of the island.
It was longer than planned and gave me a blister as I was wearing trainers.
It thretened to rain heavily but we only experienced a slight shower. We returned to the car then had lunch at a beachside cafe,
This was the view out to sea
After returning to Barrow we went to a record shop where they kindly made me a cup of tea while Simon browsed. After that we drove to Wraysholme Tower. The video we filmed can be seen here.
We got a Chinese takeaway for supper. On Sunday morning, we went to Wetherspoon's for breakfast , Simon noticed this cat in a window.
We then went to Mass in Barrow. The priest remembered us from the previous year and gave Simon the blessing for the sick for some anxiety problems he was having. We then drove to Barrow Park for its miiature railway but decided not to wait until 2pm for it to open. We then drove to Levens Hall where we had lunch.
We had a voucher for the gardens so we used that. We filmed a video on the Hall but madfe a big mistake on the commentary so probably won't use it. Simon enjoyed the topiary.
Simon visited the kids' playground.
We then finished the walk around the gardens.
We then drove to Cinderbarrow Miniature railway arriving not long before the last rides. We filmed a video here despite the gimbel packing up on us.
We then drove home which was a trial as the M6 was gridlocked. We had to take country roads through Inglewhite and Longridge.
