182 Saturday 16th July 2023 Chorley
This trip was dictated by football as Dale were playing Chorley in a pre-season friendly. We made a day of it by visiting Astley Hall in the morning.
We took the train to Chorley.
We first went to the record shop .
We then headed to Astley Park and through its impressive gateway.
Simon went on the zip wire we passed.
We bought our entrance tickets from the shop in the Coach House.
We moved through to the internal courtyard.
There was a large portrait of one of the previous owners.
The plasterwork on the ceiling was very impressive
As usual, Simon took the opportunity to dress up.
The long gallery was perhaps the most impressive room in the house.
After a brief return to the zip wire we went in the pets corner. I was surprised to see they had a lizard.
The rabbits were more expected.
After that we went back into town and found the Wetherspoons but due to an equipment breakdown they weren't doing food. We relocated to a restaurant near the bus station where we saw some other Dale fans.
We then walked to the ground. The match was diabolical and Dale lost 1-0. We then walked to the station. Simon chatted with Dale vlogger Luke on the platform. We then caught the trains home.
