This wasn't the greatest trip ever. Simon was stuck for ideas and asked for a "menu". This was influenced by cost and he picked a visit to the Weaver's Triangle Heritage Centre in Burnley. We took the train to Burnley Manchester Road.
We had some time before the Heritage Centre was due to open so we went to the town's two record shops which face each other across the same street.
We went in both of them. Simon found more of interest in Astonishing Sounds where he had a long chat with the owner. We then went for lunch at The Star. We noted that the adjacent cinema there was now derelict which didn't bode well for the future of the pub ( and it has since closed ). We walked down to the heritage centre which was still closed. As we knew it was a volunteer-run operation we decided to give them some leeway and waited beside the canal for them to open.
There was no sign of life and eventually we asked in the pub. They said it hadn't been open for some time and was more or less derelict. A look through the window seemed to confirm this.
After cursing them for not updating their website ( they have since ), we returned to the station to go home.
