242 Sunday 10th November 2024 National Football Museum

 Simon  wanted  to  bring  Josh  along  for  his  trip. The  weather looked  a  bit  iffy  so  I  suggested  we  visit  the  Urbis  National Football Museum  in  Manchester. We  took  a  rail replacement  bus  into  Bolton and  picked  up  a  train  to  Manchester  there. We went  to Subway for  some  lunch  first


We then  went  to  the  museum. One  of  the  first  exhibits we  noted  was  George  Best's  mini.


We  all  posed  around  the  Premiership  Trophy.



This  exhibit  caught  our  attention.


I'm not sure  why  this  old  England  shirt  caught  their  attention.



Simon  and  Josh  had  a  go  at  the  Be  A  Commentator game. They  also  had  a  go  at  the  Virtual  Penalty  Taker  game  and  the  keeper's  leap challenge. Simon  could  reach  the  penultimate  marker.
We  took  the  scenic  elevator  down.



We  bought a  football  at  the  gift  shop then  caught  the  train and  bus  home.

 We  headed  back  for  our  third  stay  at  Chester  Trafford  YHA. We  arrived  in  the  early  evening. Simon  noted  the  flowering  cherry  in  blossom. 226 Saturday 13 July 2024 Hawes

 Julie  came  with  us  on  this  one, a  visit  to  our  friends  in  Selside  using  the  new  Dalesrail  service  providing  direct  trains  between Bromley Cross and  Horton-in-Ribblesdale  on  a  Saturday. I  noted  the  crackle  of  branches  as  the  train  went  through  the  little-used  section  between Clitheroe  and  Hellifield. We  noted  the  Fat  Controller at  Settle  station.
