250 Saturday 11th January 2025 Banh Mi and Stockport Museum
This was another dual purpose trip chosen by Simon.
We arrived in Manchester a bit early for lunch and so went fo a look around the Royal Exchange. I pointed out the theatre to Simon.
We had a game of Connect 4 in an alcove on the gallery.
Simon loved this prop from a past production.
We then went for lunch at Banh Mi in the New Century Food Court . The footage we filmed there will be linked here in due course.
We then caught the tram to Piccadilly for a train to Stockport. We found our way to the Museum which isn't on the street signs.
We looked at the excavation of the oldest part of the building.
I wasn't sure whether these were genuine human remains or replicas.
I can't remember the story being this model ship.
I liked this model traction engine.
We were most interested in the exhibition commemorating Strawberry Studios. You could listen to the whole of Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures on one set of headphones and a selection of other songs recorded there on another.
I was interested to see an original gizmotron , the device developed by Godley and Creme and used on their il-fated Consequences album.
They had some original Lowry's
The stained glass was moved from the museum's original home in Vernon Park.
We had a brief play with the puppet theatre.
I'm not sure what this guy signified
We then started our journey home.
