282 Saturday 30 August 2025 Brushes Clough to Broadbottom

My choice was to return to Stalybridge to continue our station to station walk. We caught the train to Stalybridge where we had to ditch a leaking water bottle and buy another one from the Tesco there. We  caught the bus to Brushes Clough and went in the cafe there for a drink and cake.

We had a good view back up the Tame valley from the first path we took.

Simon was impressed with the view over to Manchester.

There was a good view ahead to Swineshaw Moor.

We ate a lot of blackberries on the next part of the route and had an enjoyable conversatio with a guy from a Manchester rambling group as our route briefly corresponded with their's. As we got higher there was a great view over to Manchester and Winter Hill.

After crossing the main road between Stalybridge and Mottram we  noticed this  sign near a farm shop.

We had to take our life in our hands crossing the exit from the M67 at  the Mottram roundabout.

We  had a  nice  surprise shortly afterwards  as a  noticeboard  showed  us some  new  routes through  Hurst  Clough that were a  better option than what I'd plotted out on the map. We  found a bench there for our  snack stop. The walk through the woods was lovely.

It  brought  us to the edge of Broadbottom and we followed the road down to the station.

After  a half  hour wait  for  the train, we went  to Big Lick's for  something  to eat in Manchester. The video we filmed there will appear here in due course.
