305 Saturday 14th February 2026 Huddersfield

This  was  my  choice. We needed to film a model railway  and  unusually the one in Greenhead Park, Hudersfield operates on a Saturday rather than Sunday. The other components were a visit to the Wimpy Bar for lunch and the Tolson Museum afterwards.

We drove to Todmorden where I met two old friends in the car park. We caught the train to Mirfield where we changed for Huddersfield. Once off the train, we headed for the park. We  walked through to the railway where  the  society has a share of  the  shop and cafe.

We filmed  a  video which  you can see here.

After that, we walked back through  the  park, checking  out  the  impressive  War  Memorial.

We  passed  a  small lake....

... and  another  that  had been drained.

We  went  for  lunch  at  the  Wimpy then caught the  bus  to  the  Tolson Museum.

There  was  more  war  remembrance  in  the  Museum

There  were  some  Victorian mock-ups

There  was  an  exhibit about  the  Denby Dale Pie.

The lower floor is given over to transport exhibits.

We moved on to the Natural History section, noting the  Tolson Half-Pig

Simon liked the old record player.

We  liked  the  model of Castle Hill.

I can't  recall who this is supposed to be.

Unsurprisingly  the  golden eagle  won the Tolson Bird Room Vote.

I think these are bitterns but I'm not entirely sure.

After a quick  refreshment break, we caught the bus back into the town centre and went to the station where we learned the disappointing news that their famous cat has been re-homed due to the  re-building work at the station.

We  caught the train back to Mirfield then another back to Todmorden. Another old friend got on the train at Hebden Bridge.
