320 Saturday 30th May 2026 Bramhall to Manchester Airport
This was the next instalment of our station to station walk from Bramhall to Manchester Airport. I knew from the map that it wasn't going to be a classic walk as it covered mainly built up areas.
We passed this attractive building not long after setting off.
We were soon on a dreary walk along endless estate roads with frequent checks of the map to ensure we stayed on the straightest line.
The day was scorchingly hot so we dived in the first pub we passed - The Pointing Dog-for a drink.
Shortly after that we headed into some meadows which provided an oasis of greenery though it ended in confusion where a farm on the map had been swallowed up by a new housing development.
Then followed another dreary piece of road walking, followed by an even briefer walk in the fields until we hit Styal Road and there was no escaping the tarmac trudge to the airport.
It was quite exciting to walk under the flight path but otherwise the walk seemed everlasting.
Finally we arrived at the station but we wanted something to eat before we got the train.
We eventually settled on a burger bar but it was slightly disappointing. We then caught the train home.
