12 Saturday 18 April Winter Hill walk
My choice for the next trip was to climb Winter Hill from Belmont, a walk I'd done with my wife some years earlier.
I was apprehensive that the car park near to the "Blue Lagoon" might be blocked off but it wasn't and there were already one or two cars there. I gave Simon the guide book so he could lead. We set off up the steep slope and had a rest before the easier going across Winter Hill Flats.
There was a bit more climbing before we reached the masts.
We had our elevenses at the summit. There were quite a few passers-by. It was a cloudy day so the view could have been better.
We descended via the easy slope to the Belmont road. We stopped briefly to examine a little cave in the rocks.
We headed up the road to Belmont and had a break at the outside tables of The Black Dog before the short climb back to the car park.
We then did the weekly shopping at Asda.
