56 Saturday 20 February 2021 Egerton

 Pinning  our  hopes  on  the  rain  stopping , we  set  out  to  continue  the  walk  aborted  the  previous  Saturday. We  parked  the  car  beside  Egerton  Park  and  bought  some  breakfast  there. We  then  waited  inside  the  car  for  the  rain  to  stop,  saying  we'd  give  up  if  it  was  still  raining  at  11.00. I  got  out at  10.53 and  it  seemed  to  be  stopping  so  we  set  out.

Simon  took  one  or  two  pictures  on  the  route.



We  got  the  last  bit  wrong in  navigational  terms  but  all  in  all  it  was  a  successful  venture.  There  will  be  a  link  to  the  footage  we  filmed  in  due  course.

At  the  end  of  the  walk we  returned  to  Crabtree's  for  our  lunch. Simon  had  a  mishap  with  a  bottle  of  milkshake  but  they  were  very  good  about  it.

Later  that  afternoon  I  missed  the  leather  pouch  for  the  microphone. Thinking  I  was  most  likely  to  have  dropped  it  where  we  first  started  filming, I  drove  back  there  and  was  able  to  find  it.

 Having  got  the  bit  between  his  teeth, Simon  wanted to finish  the  towpath  with  the  final  section  into  Sowerby  Bridge.. 242 Sunday 10th November 2024 National Football Museum

 Simon  wanted  to  bring  Josh  along  for  his  trip. The  weather looked  a  bit  iffy  so  I  suggested  we  visit  the  Urbis  National Football Museum  in  Manchester. We  took  a  rail replacement  bus  into  Bolton and  picked  up  a  train  to  Manchester  there. We went  to Subway for  some  lunch  first We then  went  to  the  museum. 244 Sunday November 24th 2024 Stockport Record Fair

 There wasn't much doubt Simon would choose this option when I put it on the "menu" . We caught the train  to  Stockport , making the last  leg of the  journey on a Pendolino train. We  had  lunch at a Wetherspoon's before making our way  to the  record  fair  in  the  Guildhall. It  looked like a  failed mission but Simon found  something at the last minute. We  called in at  the  War  Memorial Art Gallery  which  was  on  the  way  back to  the  station. The  exhibit was  a  sries  of  townscapes  such  as  this  one  of  the  viaduct.
