57 Saturday 27 February 2021 Chorley to Higher Wheelton
With the weather glorious, Simon opted to return to the Leeds Liverpool Canal.
We stopped at a little cafe on the edge of Horwich to get some takeaway breakfast then parked up at Botany Bridge.
We passed Botany Bay Mill which looked forlorn, When we saw the car park half dug up I realised that it probably wasn't just Covid that had shut the place down and that turned out to be correct.
I pointed out the Mormon church to Simon.
The scenery became rural as we approached the first locks since leaving Wigan at Johnson's Hillock.
We  came  to    Wheelton  boatyard.
Here  we  met  a  man  operating  a  drone   and  got  chatting. His  footage  can  be  found  here.
Further  on,  we  noted  some  horses  on  top  of  one  of  the  bridges.
We  called  it  a  day  below  Higher  Wheelton  where  a  sign  beckoned  us  to  the  Golden  Lion  which  was  doing  takeaways. We  had  lunch  there  then  caught  the  bus  back  to  Chorley.
