Clarke Chronicler's Resurrection

 I  had  originally  planned  to  do  a  walk  in  Calderdale  but  the  weather  looked  too  dodgy. This  also  dissuaded  my  friend  Philip  from  joining  us. However  Simon's  friend  Theo , who  was  staying  with  us  over  the  weekend  was  up  for  a  walk.  We  fell  back  on  the  old  standby  of  continuing  along  the  canal.   Simon  wanted  to  go  somewhere  with  animals  so  we  went  to  Martin  Mere. We  had  to  set  off  early  to  get  there  in  a  reasonable  time.  This  entailed  a 50  minute  wait in  Bolton  so  we  went  to  Wetherspoons  for  some  breakfast.  We  then  caught  the  train  to  New  Lane, a  little  station  in  the  West  Lancashire  farmland.  There  weren't  too  many  weekend  options  at  a  reasonable  price  so  we  chose  Bradford  and  stayed  at  an  Ibis  hotel  for  a  reasonable  price. We  found  it  easily  enough  because  it's  near  the  football  ground  which  I've  been  to  many  times. The  room  was  very  compact  but  clean  and  the  staff  were  pleasant.
