77 24 July 2021 Fylde
It was my choice and I wanted to take in the pre-season game away at AFC Fylde so I thought we'd do some walking on the Lancashire Coastal Way beforehand.
As we drove out Of Preston, Simon spotted a sign for The Courtyard Cafe near Freckleton and wanted to call there for something to eat. He ended up ordering a full breakfast which ate into the time available for a walk.
Eventually we parked up on the edge of Warton and walked the LCW alongside the Ribble Estuary. There was a good view over to Southport.
We went past Lytham Docks.
In no time we were in Lytham itself where the river meets the Irish Sea. It was here I realised my watch had stopped. Unfortunately we couldn't go inside the windmill but we stopped to talk to people from the Rivers Trust who had a couple of stalls there. They were displaying a bullhead ( a small freshwater fish ) they'd caught.
We then caught the bus back to Warton then drove to Fylde's ground. We went to the KFC nearby for lunch. Simon was concerned about the amount of time until kick off but the service was so slow it was soon eaten up. We moved on to the ground and saw Dale win 1-0 in a keenly-fought contest.
We drove straight home after the match.
