90 Sunday 24 October 2021 Towneley Hall
Molly joined us again for our next trip, Simon's choice of Towneley Hall , Burnley. we parked near the bottom of the park at the Burnley end. Simon and Molly went looking for a tree to climb but didn't find one.
We  went  into  the  Museum. They  didn't  charge  for  Simon  and  Molly.  There  was  a  mummy.
I  also  liked  the  bear.
There  were  some  medieval  vestments  from  Whalley  Abbey.
We saw a replica of the head of Francis Towneley who was executed for his part in the Jacobite rebellion of 1746.
We  also  saw  the  priest  hole.
We  looked  round  the  gift  shop    where  Simon  bought  a  classical  ambient  CD.  We   then  had  lunch  from  a  mobile  pizza  stall  near the  fountains.
We  were  hoping  to  play  pitch  and  pitt  but  the  course  was  too  wet. We  decided  to  move  on  to  Thompson  Park  in  the  hope  of  hiring  a  boat. Despite  the  website  saying  it  was  open  till  the  end  of  October , the  boating  lake  was  in  fact  already  closed. Simon  and  Molly  went  over  to  the  playground  instead.
We  then  headed  for  home.
