102 Friday 14th to Sunday 16th January 2022 Lancaster weekend

 For  this  weekend  away  we  made  our  first  use  of  airbandb, staying  with   a  lady  called  Felicity  in  Hala,Lancaster. We  had  a  little  difficulty  in  locating  the  flat  but  everything  was  A1  once  we  got there. There  was  good  parking  across  the  road  and  a  Chinese  takeaway nearby. I  introduced  Simon  to  the  delights  of  egg  fried  rice.

The  following  morning  was  a  lovely  day. We  drove  into  the  city  then  went  to  Wetherspoon's  for  some  breakfast. We  passed  the  Judge's  Lodging  building  on  the  way.

After  breakfast  we  headed  to  the  castle  to  film  a  video  which  you  can  see  here.

We  enjoyed  the  tour  apart  from  an  arsehole  know  it  all. You  can  probably  identify  him  on  the  video.

After  the  tour  we  did  a  little  shopping .

Then we  drove  into  Morecambe  for  tea  at  The  Station. After  that  we  had  a  short  walk  along  the  promenade  including  the  obligatory  pose  with  the  Eric  Morecambe  statue.

We  returned to  our  flat  and  stayed  in  for  the  rest  of  the  evenng. I  rang our  friends  in  Ribblesdale  and  asked  if  they  wanted  to  do  a  walk  on  the  Sunday. We  agreed  to  meet  in  Ingleton  at  lunchtime.

The  next  day  we said  goodbye  to  our  hostess   then  drove  up  as  far  as  Hornby  where  we  stopped  for  breakfast  at  a  nice  tea  room. We  then  drove  up  to Ingleton  where  we  met  up  with  our friends. They  suggested  a  little  stroll  from  Chapel-le-Dale  so  we  drove  up  there. We  had a  little  look  round  the  church  first.

It  was  a  lovely  afternoon  for  a  walk. Simon  spotted  some  strange  art  in  the  trees  near  the  church.

We  were  walking  on  the lower  flanks  of  Whernside.

We  moved  up  the  valley  closer  to  the  Ribblehead  viaduct.

Shortly  after  we'd  passed through  a  farm  without  incident  we  heard  the  farmer  effing  and  blinding  at  some  other  walkers  who  were  straying  off  the path  into  his meadow. As  we  neared  the  end  of  the  walk  we  noted  Ingleborough  disappearing  into  the  mist.

After  we  finished  the  walk  we  drove  to our  friends' house  in  Ribblesdale  for  tea  and  cakes. Simon  tuned  my  friend's  guitar  and  did  a  bit  of  playing. We  then  drove  home  with  a  petrol  stop  in  Settle.
