105 Saturday 12th February 2022 Bury Fusiliers Museum

 Despite  a  dreadful  forecast, I  clung  to  the  hope  that  we  could  manage  some  more  filming  along  the  river Irwell  with  a  backup  plan  to  visit  the  Fusiliers  Museum  in  Bury  if  the  weather  went  south. It  started  chucking  it  down  before  we  even  reached  the  entrance  to  Springwater Park  but  we  duly  sat  in  the  car  for  20  minutes  hoping  for  a  break  in  the  rain  which  never  arrived.

Eventually  I  conceded  defeat  and  we  moved  on  to  Bury. we  parked  at  Tesco's  and  walked  across  to  the  Fusiliers  Museum. 

The  special  exhibition  there  was  about  Napoleon's  exile  on  St  Helena.

We  passed  through  a  meeting  room.

There  was  a  section  on  war  time  bury  with  a  mocked-up  air  raid  shelter.

There  was  a  collection  of  regimental  drums  and  other  instruments.

Simon  liked  this  anti-tank  weapon.

Sadly  the  costumes  were  a  bit  too  small  for  him.

It's  a  well  laid-out  museum  even  if  you're  not  that  grabbed  by  the  subject  matter.

After  that  we  visited  HMV  where  Simon  bought  a  couple  of  CDs

We  then  went  to KFC  for  lunch  before  heading  to  the  Crown  Oil  Arena  for  an  entertaining  but  frustrating  3-3  draw  with  Harrogate.
