116 Sunday 1 May 2022 Rawtenstall
This was my choice, a walk taking in Fitzpatrick's cafe in Rawtenstall. Molly joined us for this one.
We parked at Rawtenstall station and walked to Fitzpatrick's. Simon and Molly both ordered extravagant shakes.
After that we set off on our walk from the centre of the town. The first mile or so was a continuous climb. The weather was cloudy but dry.
Near Brow Edge Quarry,, there was a small caravan site from which we were ambushed by three friendly dogs. They particularly liked Molly.
After a short level stretch we started descending a long track towards Edenfield.
We then made a right turn and descended to Rochdale Rd where we had a brief rest by the roadside.
We then went to the Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary. We had a drink at the cafe and then went to see the cats.
Most of the dog enclosures were closed off for some reason. We then followed paths down to Stubbins passing some horses on the way.
We had a short wait for a bus then returned to Rawtenstall.
