151 Sunday 6th December 2022 Edgworth Christmas Fair

 Simon  was  at  a  birthday  event  with his  friends but  Julie  offered  to  go  with  me  to  the  Edgworth   Christmas  Fair  at  the  Barlow  Institute.




We  had  a  chat  with  a  lady  I  know  from  church  at  one  of  the  stalls  downstairs.  Julie  also  spoke  to  a  bloke  who  repairs  computers. There  were  more  stalls  upstairs  in  the  library  room.



After  that  we  went  for  tea  and  cake  at  the  Reading  Room  Cafe.


Then  we  went  home.

 Having  got  the  bit  between  his  teeth, Simon  wanted to finish  the  towpath  with  the  final  section  into  Sowerby  Bridge.. This  was  a  direct  repeat  of  a  trip  from  the  classic  era  in  January 1980.  We  drove  to  Hebden Bridge, stopping  at  Nutty's  Butty's  along  the  way. 242 Sunday 10th November 2024 National Football Museum

 Simon  wanted  to  bring  Josh  along  for  his  trip. The  weather looked  a  bit  iffy  so  I  suggested  we  visit  the  Urbis  National Football Museum  in  Manchester. We  took  a  rail replacement  bus  into  Bolton and  picked  up  a  train  to  Manchester  there. We went  to Subway for  some  lunch  first We then  went  to  the  museum. 244 Sunday November 24th 2024 Stockport Record Fair

 There wasn't much doubt Simon would choose this option when I put it on the "menu" . We caught the train  to  Stockport , making the last  leg of the  journey on a Pendolino train. We  had  lunch at a Wetherspoon's before making our way  to the  record  fair  in  the  Guildhall. It  looked like a  failed mission but Simon found  something at the last minute. We  called in at  the  War  Memorial Art Gallery  which  was  on  the  way  back to  the  station. The  exhibit was  a  sries  of  townscapes  such  as  this  one  of  the  viaduct.
