151 Sunday 6th December 2022 Edgworth Christmas Fair

 Simon  was  at  a  birthday  event  with his  friends but  Julie  offered  to  go  with  me  to  the  Edgworth   Christmas  Fair  at  the  Barlow  Institute.




We  had  a  chat  with  a  lady  I  know  from  church  at  one  of  the  stalls  downstairs.  Julie  also  spoke  to  a  bloke  who  repairs  computers. There  were  more  stalls  upstairs  in  the  library  room.



After  that  we  went  for  tea  and  cake  at  the  Reading  Room  Cafe.


Then  we  went  home.

 Simon  wanted  to  bring  Josh  along  for  his  trip. The  weather looked  a  bit  iffy  so  I  suggested  we  visit  the  Urbis  National Football Museum  in  Manchester. We  took  a  rail replacement  bus  into  Bolton and  picked  up  a  train  to  Manchester  there. We went  to Subway for  some  lunch  first We then  went  to  the  museum.  Julie  came  with  us  on  this  one, a  visit  to  our  friends  in  Selside  using  the  new  Dalesrail  service  providing  direct  trains  between Bromley Cross and  Horton-in-Ribblesdale  on  a  Saturday. I  noted  the  crackle  of  branches  as  the  train  went  through  the  little-used  section  between Clitheroe  and  Hellifield. We  noted  the  Fat  Controller at  Settle  station. 224 Saturday 29th June 2024 Huddersfield Narrow Canal ; Marsden to Huddersfield

 This  was  my  choice, the  conclusion  to  our  walk  along  the  towpath  of  the  Huddersfield  Narrow  Canal. Though  it  was  raining hard, it  was  forecast  to  clear  up later  in  the  day ( which  it  did ). We  drove  to  Todmorden  for  a  train  to  Mirfield  which  was  delayed.  At  Mirfield  we  found  that  our  next  train  had  been  cancelled so  we  were  stuck  in  the  town for an  hour.
