Clarke Chronicler's Resurrection

 Simon  chose  this  one  which  coincided  with  one  of  the  periodic  visits  of  the  Flying  Scotsman. We  parked  up  at  Bury  Leisure  Centre, taking  the  last  parking  space, then walked  over  to  the  museum.   It  was  quite  busy with  a  coach  party  who'd  come  to  ride  on  the  Scotsman.  Simon  enjoyed  the  interactive  puzzles.  With  snow  on  the  ground  in  Bolton, I  was  persuaded  to  abandon  plans  for  a  walk  and  go  to  Leeds  for  a  filming  trip  to  the  remains  of  Rothwell  Castle. We  drove  to  Todmorden  and  caught  the  train  from  there. Once  in  Leeds, we  found  our  way  to  the  bus  stop  for  Rothwell, using  Google  Maps  to  identify  where  to  get  off.   This  was  a  long  deferred  trip  because  the  Museum  had  been  closed  for  renovation  for  some  time. Julie  came  along  on  this  one  to  see  the  special  Egyptian  exhibition. We  didn't  anticipate  that  there'd  be quite  a  queue to  get in. We  eventually  got  in  and  looked  round  the  mummies.   For  our  next  weekend,  we  stayed  with  Travelodge  and  chose  Trentham  near  Stoke,  partly  for  its  proximity to  Crewe  where  Rochdale  were  playing  on  the Saturday  although  after  two  dismal  home  defeats , our  appetite  for  further  punishment  had  diminished. Before  setting  off  for  Trentham,  we  went  to  Rochdale  to  re-film  some  footage  of  the  Roch  which  we'd  managed  to  lose.
