175 Sunday 28th May 2023 Glossop
Simon wanted to do a short walk so I chose one from a book of walks in the Peak District starting from Glossop which I hadn't visited before. We had a bit of a wait for a train in Manchster so had a bite to eat there first. We alighted at Glossop atation.
As we went down the high street looking for a Co Op we passed a little funfair. Simon of course wanted to go on a ride.
The walk took us above a park and into Old Glossop. We passed the parish church.
We admired the older buildings.
We passed the market cross.
Soon we were into fields and the views started opening up.
This was looking over towards Kinder.
Simon loved this field full of buttercups.
A little further on he found a tree swing near a football pitch.
After we crossed the A57 there was a rather tedious climb up a quiet back road but there wa a great view over the town from a bench at the top.
