Clarke Chronicler's Resurrection

 This  Sunday,  I  chose  to  visit  an  exhibition  on  Lancashire's  railways in  the  Steward's  Gallery  at  Clitheroe, We  went  to  Bowland  Food  Court  for  lunch, sampling  their  wonderful  freshly-squeezed  orange  juice  once  again. We  then  walked  through  the  castle  park  to  reach  the  museum. We  admired  the  great  view  over  the  town We  admired  the  model  trains. We  liked  the  teddy  on  the  cases. We  spent  a  lot  of  time  doing  a  jigsaw. We  noted  this  name  plate. Simon  found  a  pal. We  then  caught  the  train  home.

 Simon  chose  another  photography exhibition  for  our  first  trip  in  three  weeks  due  to  my  recovery  from  eye  surgery. I  can't  honsetly  remember  who  the  photographer  was  but  at  least  the  venue  was  interesting. We  caught  the  train  to  Deansgate ( not a  station  we  use  much ). We  walked  along  the  Rochdale  Canal  towpath  to  Castlefield, passing a  barge  navigating  the  first  lock, the  first  time  I've  seen  a  barge  on  this  section.  I  pointed  out  the  re-created  roman  fort  to  Simon The  entrance  to  the  Castlefield  viduct  took  a  bit...

 My  next  choice  of  trip  was  to  finish   filming  on  the  river  Spodden  from  Shawforth  to  the  centre  of  Rochdale. The  footage  we  shot  can  be  seen  here, We  had  lunch  at  the  Healey  Dell  Heritage  Centre  along  the  way.

 This  trip  was  again  a  consequence  of  us  having  a  weekend away  at  Green  View  Lodges, Welton. Simon  and  I  decided  to  go  into  Carlisle  on  the  Saturday. We  parked  up  near  the  castle. We  walked  across  the  footbridge  linking  the  castle  to  the  town  which  gave  a  good  view over  towards  the  cathedral. It  was quite  breezy  on  the  bridge. We  decided  to  look  round  the  Cathedral. We  admired  the  painted  panels  which  I  didn't  remember  from  a  previous  visit. We  visited  the Treasury  to  see  the  ecclesiastical  valuables  of  the  dio...

 This  was  a  strong  contender  for  the  worst  trip  of  trhe  year. Simon  chose  to  visit  a  photography  exhibition, Simon  Wright's  "The  City  of  the  Sun " at  Village  Books  in  Manchester. The  bookshop  took  a  bit  of  finding requiring  the use  of  Google  Maps. We  decided  to  have  lunch  first. We  found  our  way  to  the  small  arty  bookshop  which  was  empty  and  descended  to  the  windowless  basement  for  the  exhibition. This  was  the  most  interesting  picture  n  what  looked  like  sometimes  holiday  snaps  in  Naples. As  usual  Simon  found  so...

 For  my  next  choice  of  trip, I  chose  to  make  a  start  on  filming  the  river  Spodden. We  drove  to  Bacup  and  parked near  the  old  police  station  ( as  featured  in  Juliet  Bravo ). We  then  went  to  a  supermarket  for  some  provisions, As  there  was  no  bus  service  on  a  Sunday  we  started  with  a  road  walk  towards  Sharneyford, Rhere  was  a  playground  on  the  way  where  Simon  had  a  go  on  the  zip  wire.
