187 Saturday 19th August 2023 Carlisle
This trip was again a consequence of us having a weekend away at Green View Lodges, Welton. Simon and I decided to go into Carlisle on the Saturday. We parked up near the castle.
We walked across the footbridge linking the castle to the town which gave a good view over towards the cathedral.
It was quite breezy on the bridge.
We decided to look round the Cathedral.
We admired the painted panels which I didn't remember from a previous visit.
We visited the Treasury to see the ecclesiastical valuables of the diocese.
I  can't  actually  remember  what  was  going  on  here  apart  from  Simon  finding  his usual  excuse  to  sit  down.
After  the  Cathedral  we  went  to  the  Market  Hall  where  I  bought  a  new  watch strap.  We  then  went  to  a  record  shop  where3  Simon bought  a  vinyl  copy  of  Stereophonics' debut  LP.
We  then  had  lunch  at  a  chip  shop cafe.
After  lunch  we  went  in  the  Tullie  House  Museum. We  viewed  the  skeleton  of  a  VBronze  age  man.
Simon  sat  down  in  a  replica  railway  carriage.
We  were  impressed  by  a  whale  skeleton.
There  was  a  good  view  of  the  castle  from  the  top  floor.
We  then  returned  to  our  lodge  for  tea.
