196 Saturday 18 November 2023 Tandle Hill Country Park

 This  was  a  pre-football  trip  which  involved  filming  in  the  morning. We  drove  to  Tandle  Hill  Country  Park to  make  a  video  there. It  can  be  seen  here.


We then  drove into  Royton to  find  the  source  of  the  river  Irk  and  begin  filming  another  video  series  on  the  river. The  footage  we  filmed can  be  seen  here.


Simon's  feet  got  a  bit  wet . We  tried  to  dry  them  off  using  the  car's  heater  as  we  drove to  Rochdale.We  went  to  the  Regal  Moon  for  lunch. Before  going  on  to  the  match  we  popped  into  Asda  for  some  new  socks  for  Simon. Rochdale  beat  Aldershot 2-1.

 Simon  wanted  to  bring  Josh  along  for  his  trip. The  weather looked  a  bit  iffy  so  I  suggested  we  visit  the  Urbis  National Football Museum  in  Manchester.  Julie  came  with  us  on  this  one, a  visit  to  our  friends  in  Selside  using  the  new  Dalesrail  service  providing  direct  trains  between Bromley Cross and  Horton-in-Ribblesdale  on  a  Saturday. I  noted  the  crackle  of  branches  as  the  train  went  through  the  little-used  section  between Clitheroe  and  Hellifield. We  noted  the  Fat  Controller at  Settle  station. 224 Saturday 29th June 2024 Huddersfield Narrow Canal ; Marsden to Huddersfield

 This  was  my  choice, the  conclusion  to  our  walk  along  the  towpath  of  the  Huddersfield  Narrow  Canal. Though  it  was  raining hard, it  was  forecast  to  clear  up later  in  the  day ( which  it  did ). We  drove  to  Todmorden  for  a  train  to  Mirfield  which  was  delayed.  At  Mirfield  we  found  that  our  next  train  had  been  cancelled so  we  were  stuck  in  the  town for an  hour.
