227 Sunday 21 July 2024 Lytham Ice Cream Festival
This was Simon's pick, a visit to the Lytham Ice Cream Festival. We drove there We parked on the sea front then went for lunch at a fish and chips restaurant called Whelan's. The food was alright but the experience was marred by an unpleasant smell. We then moved on tO Lowther Gardens for the festival.
we admired the fish in the ornamental pond.
We had a look round the stalls without buying anything. We then had a ride on a roller coaster where I closed my eyes on the scariest parts. Simon wasn't very hungry after his lunch but did get some candy floss when I bought an ice cream ( nothing special ).
After that, we decided to walk up the coast path to St Anne's and catch the bus back.
We passed Fairhaven Lake.
We enjoyed getting off the concrete and on to the grass towards the end of the walk.
We arrived at the miniature railway and filmed a video which you can see here.
We then decided to move on to the pier. There was a tennis ball on the path which I kicked off ahead of us. Simon had realised that which I hadn't, that it belonged to a couple and their dog who were just taking a breather on the benches. I sheepishly returned it much to his amusement. We had a stroll along the pier.
Simon was starting to flag but I insisted on a short circuit past some old holiday haunts from my childhood. When that was done we caught the bus back to Lytham then drove home.
