237 Sunday 29th September 2024 Todmorden to Mytholmroyd walk
This was my choice, a walk as the weather forecast was good.
We drove to Todmorden and went to Mass there. We then moved the car to the station car park.
We had breakfast butties at Todmorden Market before tackling the steepish climb past the Unitarian church and its graveyard.
There was a good view back to it with Whirlaw Common behind.
We followed the Calderdale Way to Lumbutts where we chatted with a couple of residents before having lunch at The Top Brink pub. We then moved on to Mankinholes where we checked the youth hostel for signs of re-opening but there were none. We then climbed The Long Causeway onto the moor. This was the view back to Lumbutts.
We both found it quite a puff after lunch.
We had a rest at the Long Stoop where Archer's bench used to be.
Some lads passing volunteered to take our picture.
We moved across the moor , still on the Calderdale Way, noting the Te Deum Stone on the way.
Simon was impressed by Withens Clough Reservoir coming into view.
