252 Saturday 25th January 2025 Bridgewater Canal Worsley to Trafford Centre
This was a follow up to a walk in the Christmas holidays when we walked from Leigh to Worsley along the Bridgewater Canal.
For this next stage the plan was to drive to The Trafford Centre, catch the bus to Worsley then walk the towpath back to the Centre getting some lunch there before heading to Rochdale for the game against Yeovil. The plan first went off course when Simon wanted breakfast at Wetherspoons so we went there first. We then caught the bus to Worsley.
Then it was my turn to spike the timetable. I started reading something interesting on the bus and we overshot Worsley and landed in Boothstown. We had a fair wait for a return bus back to Worsley. We eventually got started where we had left off.
Obviously we walked at a fair pace .....
.......particularly around Monson where there was someone dodgy behind us for a while.
The approach to Barton Bridge was very pleasant
We did note the historic Bridgewater Mill.
Just beyond that, Simon pointed out this weird dangling fish.
Unfortunately, the Barton Swing Aqueduct was closed and we could not cross it.
Soon after that we were back at the Trafford Centre. It took us some time to find the car and leave the site but we just about got to the game in time which Rochdale won 4-0.
