258 Friday 7th to Sunday 9th March 2025 Woolley Edge weekend
For our next weekend, we returned to Woolley Edge Travelodge near Wakefield.
We had tea before setting off and arrived mid-evening. The next day we drove to Pontefract for the dungeon tour at Pontefract Castle. We also wanted to complete filming at the Castle. We filmed there four years earlier but I didn't think we did it justice so never posted it. The complete footage will appear here in due course.
After that we went into the town for some lunch, inevitably finding the Wetherspoon's . After that we went for a look around Pontefract's underwelming museum.
This rocking horse was the most interesting exhibit.
After that we had a look around Pontefract's half-ruined parish church. We had a long discussion about what to do next as Simon couldn't walk far due to an injured toe. We couldn't come up with anything beter than a drink stop at a garden centre on the way back to the Travelodge. We had tea at the Burger King on site then watched TV - the film Cliffhanger if I recall correctly.
The next morning, we had breakfast at Gregg's then drove to a little church in nearby Darton for Mass. We then returned to the lodge for checkout and then drove to Pugney's Country Park to film the miniature railway there. The footage will appear here in due course.
We then drove to Castle Hill in Huddersfield to film a short video there. It will appear here in due course,
We then went for tea at The Ram's Head near Denshaw which was excellent. Then we drove home.
