259 Sunday 16th March 2025 Clitheroe

 With our time somewhat squeezed this weekend, we went to Clitheroe  again with a specific purpose. Our drone  had just been returned repaired  following a disastrous maiden flight  and  we needed  to  test  it out,

We took the train/replacement bus  to Clitheroe and went to Bowland Food Court for lunch. Simon made the wrong choice of sandwich and didn't enjoy his very much.

We  then went  into the  park by Clitheroe Castle to fly  the  drone.


  

There was a good view of Longridge Fell


We found a good quiet spot near the bowling green looking towards the castle.


Simon soon got it airborne.




Simon flew it above the  trees  and  got  it  to land  safely. We  moved to a second spot , lower down on an empty playing field wherte I had a brief go. Simon thought I was  flying too close to the trees.

We  then put  the  drone away and had a quick visit to the castle. As usual, the view over the town to Pendle Hill was terrific.



We  then returned to the  station for  the replacement bus/train  back to Bromley Cross. Simon later realised he'd forgotten to turn on the camera  on the drone  which  is  why there's no footage  here !

 Having  got  the  bit  between  his  teeth, Simon  wanted to finish  the  towpath  with  the  final  section  into  Sowerby  Bridge.. 242 Sunday 10th November 2024 National Football Museum

 Simon  wanted  to  bring  Josh  along  for  his  trip. The  weather looked  a  bit  iffy  so  I  suggested  we  visit  the  Urbis  National Football Museum  in  Manchester. We  took  a  rail replacement  bus  into  Bolton and  picked  up  a  train  to  Manchester  there. We went  to Subway for  some  lunch  first We then  went  to  the  museum. 244 Sunday November 24th 2024 Stockport Record Fair

 There wasn't much doubt Simon would choose this option when I put it on the "menu" . We caught the train  to  Stockport , making the last  leg of the  journey on a Pendolino train. We  had  lunch at a Wetherspoon's before making our way  to the  record  fair  in  the  Guildhall. It  looked like a  failed mission but Simon found  something at the last minute. We  called in at  the  War  Memorial Art Gallery  which  was  on  the  way  back to  the  station. The  exhibit was  a  sries  of  townscapes  such  as  this  one  of  the  viaduct.
