262 Sunday 6th April 2025 Bolton trigs

 Now that we were happy that the drone was  functioning, we decided to devote a trip to our new YouTube playlist- All The Trigs  where we  visit triangulation stations in good  weather  and record the views from them. We started on the previous  Friday  night  but on this  day  went  to  three triangulation stations to the  west of  Bolton. 

The  first is  called Whinberrry Hill , though  it's  near to rather than on the hill. The footage we shot can be  viewed here


After  that. we went  for  lunch at the snack hut on Walker Fold  car  park but it wasn't serving much food . We then drove to Smithills Hall where we  had a good lunch.


We then drove  up to Matchmoor Lane to find the trig at Old Harpers. The  footage will appear here in due course.

We  then drove to Wingates to find the trig at Moor Field. The  footage will appear here in due  course.

Then we drove home.

 Having  got  the  bit  between  his  teeth, Simon  wanted to finish  the  towpath  with  the  final  section  into  Sowerby  Bridge.. 242 Sunday 10th November 2024 National Football Museum

 Simon  wanted  to  bring  Josh  along  for  his  trip. The  weather looked  a  bit  iffy  so  I  suggested  we  visit  the  Urbis  National Football Museum  in  Manchester. We  took  a  rail replacement  bus  into  Bolton and  picked  up  a  train  to  Manchester  there. We went  to Subway for  some  lunch  first We then  went  to  the  museum. 244 Sunday November 24th 2024 Stockport Record Fair

 There wasn't much doubt Simon would choose this option when I put it on the "menu" . We caught the train  to  Stockport , making the last  leg of the  journey on a Pendolino train. We  had  lunch at a Wetherspoon's before making our way  to the  record  fair  in  the  Guildhall. It  looked like a  failed mission but Simon found  something at the last minute. We  called in at  the  War  Memorial Art Gallery  which  was  on  the  way  back to  the  station. The  exhibit was  a  sries  of  townscapes  such  as  this  one  of  the  viaduct.
