306 Sunday 22nd February 2026 Salmesbury Hall

 This  was  Simon's  choice. We  went to The  Fernhurst in Blackburn for lunch beforehand.

I  had visited Salmesbury Hall in the late nineties when it seemed more like an antiques showroom than a museum so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Despite the signs for Reception, it wasn't clear where the main entrance was and there was certainly no one around to meet and greet. We  then came  across  a  dressed up tour guide and  her party and piggybacked on the tourfor a visit to a witchs room  which we probably weren't supposed to do. 

We then found our  own way to the ghost room associated with the White Lady legend.


We  completed our  look around the Hall on our  own. 


I noted there is now an exhibit on the photographer and  conservationist Stanley Jeeves who  was  the  driving force behind  the  Hall's development as an attraction in the seventies which was good but  there still isn't an opportunity to view his renowned AV presentations.

We  then had a game of crazy golf which as usual these  days, Simon won



We concluded our  trip with a visit to the tea shop.


We then drove home.

 This  was my  choice although necessitated by our YouTube schedule. We  drove to Wycoller Country Park  and  the video we filmed can be seen here. After that, we walked a route from Paul Hannon's "Walks In Bronte Country" . This  took us past  the  rocky outcrop of Foster's Leap.  There was a good view over to Boulsworth Hill. Simon posed on the rocks. We passed the  sadly now closed and  converted Herder's Arms and walked along the road to Haworth  for  three quarters of a mile. A  track to the right dropped us  down  into  the valley and we made quick progress to the ancient bridge where we did some additional filming.  We  then passed the picnic site on the right. As the tea room in Wycoller has now closed we drove to a cafe in Trawden for lunch. Then we drove home.

305 Saturday 14th February 2026 Huddersfield

 This  was  my  choice. We needed to film a model railway  and  unusually the one in Greenhead Park, Hudersfield operates on a Saturday rather than Sunday. The other components were a visit to the Wimpy Bar for lunch and the Tolson Museum afterwards. We drove to Todmorden where I met two old friends in the car park. We caught the train to Mirfield where we changed for Huddersfield. Once off the train, we headed for the park. We  walked through to the railway where  the  society has a share of  the  shop and cafe. We filmed  a  video which  you can see here. After that, we walked back through  the  park, checking  out  the  impressive  War  Memorial. We  passed  a  small lake.... ... and  another  that  had been drained. 22 Saturday June 27 Limer's Gate and Crimsworth Dean

Despite  the  uncertain  weather  we  set  out  for  another  walk  from the Paul  Hannon  book. We  stopped  at  the  Corner  Shop,Stubbins  to  get  a  drink  and  Simon  had a  sausage  muffin. We  parked  at  Pecket  Well  using  the  pub  car  park  with  the  landlord's  permission,to avoid  the  NT  charges  at Midgehole.  We  waited  until a  shower  passed  before  setting  out.
