317 Sunday 9th May 2026 Wembley

This was  our  big  day, going to watch Dale's play-off Final  to escape the  National League  at  Wembley.

We  had  to set off early to get parked up and  be  at  Spotland for the coaches. We  also made sure we got  on  the  same  one  as Philip because he had the tickets.

We  had a  stop at  a  services near Leicester and had something  to  eat there. We  arrived at Wembley with a couple of hours to spare. We went for  a  drink in a fan zone. Once  we  had our  tickets from Philip, we went for a stroll round the otside of the stadium.

I took a photo of Simon under the Bobby Moore statue.

A  nice  guy  then offered to take one of both of us.

Dale  fans were milling on the concourse below us.

The  match  itself was a difficult watch . Borehamwood were the better team on the day and  deserved their 2-0 goal lead. Then Tyler Smith scored from a knockdown with about 12 minutes to go to give us  some  hope. It still looked too little too late then Mani Dieseruwe got  his  head to a long  punt  in the 97th minute and it  was 2-2. Then there was 30 minutes of  walking football  with both sides looking dead on their feet. Then penalties. I was quietly  confident Neil Whatmuff would  save  some  of  them  and  two were  enough. Here are the celebrations.

We  then made our way back to the coach. We had another meal stop on the way back  and got into Rochdale for around 12.30am , getting back home around 1am
