Clarke Chronicler's Resurrection

 It  was  quite  a  struggle  to  find  suitably  priced  accommodation  options  for  this  weekend  but  there  was  a  good  deal ( or  so  I  thought ) at  a  hotel  in  Southport.   The  Scarisbrick  Hotel  was  on  Lord  St , the  main  shopping  area  and  had  very  little  parking  ( to  be  fair  we  were  warned  about  this ).  I  can't  recall whether  this  switch  to  Sunday  was  down  to  illness, the  weather  or  an  appointnment  on  the  Saturday. This  walk  followed  on  from  the  previous  Sunday when I'd  made  a  mess  of  making  a  video  on  the  river  Ogden  so  we  needed  to  do  some  re-shooting.   This  was  Simon's  choice, a  visit  to  the  Dr  Who  exhibition  at  Liverpool's  World  Museum. I  had  been  to  a  Dr  Who  exhibition  with  my Dad  in  Blackpool  back  in  1975  so  it  was  interesting  to  see  an  update.  When  we  were  buying  our   train  tickets,  we  were  advised  that  it  was  cheaper  if  we  went  via  Wigan  rather  than  Manchester so  we  did  that.  We  got  off  at  Bolton  and  found  that   the  next  train  for  Wigan  had  been  cancelled   so  we  went  to  Wetherspoons  for  some  breakfast.  ...

 The  next  week  it  was  my  choice  and  I  opted  for  continuing  along  the  Leeds-Liverpool  Canal  from  Barrowford. We  took  the  train  to   Colne   but  the  connections  weren't  good  and  left  us time  to  have  some  breakfast  at  the  Postal  Order  in  Blackburn. We  finally  arrived  at  the  godforsaken  remnant  of  Colne  station. Then  we  had  a  bit  of  a  wait  for  a  bus  to  Barrowford  Locks.
