Clarke Chronicler's Resurrection

 After  some  searching  around, I  found  that  the  Museum  Of  Science  and  Industry  was  hosting  an  exhibition  named  Turn  It  Up : The  Power  of  Music  which  I  thought  would  be  ideal  for  Simon. This  display  of  music  outlets  was  near  the  entrance. I  liked  the  exotic  instruments  that  were  on  display.  The  weather  wasn't  that  great  so  I  decided  on  visiting  the  miniature  railway  at  Brokkside  Garden  Centre  near  Poynton.  We  went  by  train  to  Hazel  Grove and  hoped  to  get  a  bus  from  there  to  Brookside  which  is  about  a  mile  away.. Unfortunately  it  isn't  on  a  bus  route, at  least  not  one from  there. Luckily  it  wasn't  raining as  we  walked..I  was  relieved as  we  neared  the  place to  hear  the  engine  whistle.   We  played  it  safe  with  this  one, not  wanting  to  risk  being  stranded  somewhere  by  cancelled  public  transport  and  decided  to  brave  the  last  minute  shoppers  in  Manchester. We  went  to  HMV  for  Simon. We  then  had  a  look  round  Manhester  Central  Library  where  there  was  a  small  exhibition  of  photos  from  the  legendary  Sex  Pistols  Free  Trade  Hall  gig.  You're  supposed  to  be  able  to  see  the  back  of  Morrisey's  head  in  the  photo  on  the  left.  This  was  meant  to  be  a  footballing  trip  to  Bradford  meeting  up  with  our  friends  at  Dick  Hudson's  for  a  meal  beforehand  which  we  had  booked. Unfortunately,  the  bad  weather  meant  a  pitch  inspection which  took  place  mid-morning.  We  waited  at  home  for  the  decision  which  was  negative. Our  friends  pulled out  but  I  said  Simon  and  I  would  still  travel  to  Dick  Hudson's  to  save  everyone's  deposits.  Simon  was  at  a  birthday  event  with his  friends but  Julie  offered  to  go  with  me  to  the  Edgworth   Christmas  Fair  at  the  Barlow  Institute. We  had  a  chat  with  a  lady  I  know  from  church  at  one  of  the  stalls  downstairs.  Julie  also  spoke  to  a  bloke  who  repairs  computers. There  were  more  stalls  upstairs  in  the  library  room. After  that  we  went  for  tea  and  cake  at  the  Reading  Room  Cafe. Then  we  went  home.

 Julie  took  charge  of  this  one  and  booked  a  weekend  at  Green  View  Lodges  in  Welton, near  Carlisle . We  had  previously  stayed  there  while  on  walking  weekends  with  our  walking  group. Our  friends  from  Selside who  don't  want  to  be  on  the  internet  stayed  with  us. Our  agreed  plan  was  to  visit  Carlisle  on  the  Saturday  and  do  a  walk  on  Hadrian's  Wall  on  the  Sunday.  The  kids  enjoyed  their  first  session  in  the  hot  tub on  the  Friday  night.
